For UCI & OC students

Build Gumme with us.

We're launching Gumme in Orange County and looking for two early- team interns to help — marketing & community, and product. The deal below is honest: no cash to start, real equity for the right person, salary if we raise. Read it through before you apply.

How to apply

Open roles

Two positions, both with the same compensation structure (see “The deal” below).

Marketing & Community Intern

Orange County · remote-friendly · ~10–15 hrs/week

Run our social presence, do real-world outreach to OC hosts and clubs, and help launch Gumme in Orange County in person — not just online.

Who you are

  • Current student at UCI, UCLA, CSULB, Chapman, CSUF, or another Orange County 4-year
  • Comfortable on Instagram / TikTok and not afraid to DM strangers
  • Self-starter — you don't need a manager telling you what to do every week
  • You like meeting people IRL, going to local events, and talking to host-types

What you'll do

  • Run Gumme's Instagram (posts, Stories, Reels) — voice, cadence, the works
  • Outreach to OC clubs and hosts we want on the app — coffee meetings, intros, follow-ups
  • Help organize launch events on the ground in OC (yoga, runs, board game nights — actual things)
  • Track what's working (real metrics, not vanity numbers)
  • Bring back what you hear from real users so we can shape the product

Product Intern

Orange County · remote-friendly · ~10–15 hrs/week

Test new features end-to-end before they ship, run user-research sessions with real attendees and hosts, and help shape what we build next.

Who you are

  • Current student at UCI, UCLA, CSULB, Chapman, CSUF, or another OC 4-year
  • Curious about how products actually work — design, UX, why-it-works decisions
  • Comfortable installing TestFlight builds and writing thoughtful feedback
  • Can put yourself in a host's shoes and an attendee's shoes — both
  • Bonus: spreadsheets / Notion / writing crisp bug reports

What you'll do

  • Test new features end-to-end before each TestFlight release
  • Run 1:1 user-research sessions with real attendees and hosts (we'll teach you the format)
  • Help spec small features ("what should the club detail page show next?")
  • Write up findings into action items the founder can ship
  • Catch bugs that slipped through and reproduce them clearly

The deal — up front

No cash compensation to start. Gumme is free and pre-revenue. We're not going to pretend that's fine for everyone — if you need a paycheck right now, this isn't the one.

Equity for the right person, after a trial period. After a defined ramp where we both figure out if it's a fit, the right person earns equity in Gumme. Terms in writing before any commitment — standard startup vesting.

If we raise or hit revenue, you get paid. When Gumme has money, early-team people get taken care of first — both salary and a share of whatever we've built together. That's a promise, in writing.

Academic credit is possible. We're happy to work with your school's internship office so this counts toward credit. Bring us the paperwork; we'll fill it out.

Remote-friendly, OC preferred. Most work happens async, but being physically in OC matters — especially for the marketing role — because real events and real conversations happen here.
